Through all the confusion of conflicting information on social media, getting healthy and maintaining that lifestyle can seem nearly impossible. With the right approach, though, it is entirely possible to get on top of your goals. Here are some practical, sustainable tips to get you started on thriving:
1. Personalized Nutrition Plans: There is no one-size-fits-all diet, we are all unique. Nutrition that is personalized by working with a nutritionist will help you find a plan that works for you. This allows you to consider things like your lifestyle, goals, and upcoming events. Working with a nutritionist gives you the opportunity to have a flexible and balanced approach to your plan. When you are busy with work, having the help of a nutritionist can be crucial to your ultimate success.
2. Make sure you are getting enough fiber: Fiber is so important to a healthy diet and it has been connected to improved digestive health, better heart health, and long-term weight management. Including foods such as whole grains, legumes, fruits, and vegetables is important to get enough fiber in. Start your day off with some whole grain oatmeal or adding in some fruit with a snack will help you get some additional fiber in.
3. Meal Prepping to Save Time: There is a reason meal prepping is all over social media, it can save you so much time. Finding a couple of hours during your weekend can help set you up for success during your week, even if your schedule goes crazy. You don’t have to prep every meal that you are going to eat during the week, you can cook a big batch of quinoa and a protein source (my favorite is chicken) so you can have a base for your lunches or dinners.

4. Mindful Eating: Taking a moment to slow down and eat your meals isn’t just good for your digestion, but it also helps you control how much you are eating. When you are eating quickly and with distractions, you have a tendency to overeat, but when you are taking the time to focus on what you are eating, you are able to really recognize when you are full. You can start by eating away from your desk, putting your phone down, or setting your utensil down in between bites.
5. Nutrition and Technology: Things like apps and smart watches are making it so much simpler and faster to track your water and food intake. Find your favorite one, that fulfills your needs and it can help keep you accountable. There are so many different apps, like MyFitnessPal, Cronometer, or MyNetDiary and they are free to use. They can help you keep track of your daily targets so you can achieve your goals.
Keep in mind that the best way to start is with small steps. You can pick just one of these actionable ideas and see how it helps how you feel, and how productive you are. The goal here is progress over perfection.
