When on the hunt for macro-friendly meals, it doesn’t have to be complicated! Here are some strategies I use to find balanced recipes that help you reach your goals.
1. Use Recipe filters online
a. When you are searching for recipes on Google, Pinterest, or TikTok
i. Type “high-protein meals”
ii. Type “Healthy Meal prep”
iii. Type “Macro-friendly fast food options”
2. Modify your favorite recipes
a. Swap ingredients to help with macros
i. Pasta – Look for chickpea or lentil pasta for a protein boost
ii. Sour cream – Greek Yogurt is a great swap
iii. Fried food – air fried or grilled are awesome options
3. Use a calorie tracker to log and alter
a. My favorite app is MyNetDiary
b. There’s also MyFitnessPal, Cronometer, and tons of others
4. Make simple, versatile meals
a. Go back to that batch prepping
i. Base ingredients like chicken, beef, eggs can all be turned into several different meals to keep you from getting bored of your food and help you stay higher on the protein count
b. Easy add-ins like rice, quinoa, veggies, potatoes
c. Flavor boosters like low calorie sauces or seasonings
The key is keeping the meals balanced, tasty, and easy so they fit your busy lifestyle.
